Happy 2011!

I had probably the most uneventful transition to the new year ever, but considering where I am and what I'm doing, I'll count that as a good thing.  My entry into 2011 involved watching Finding Nemo...aw!  I miss my little Nemo and his mother.

As is tradition, I've got some goals for this year.  Some may not see the point to setting goals, but I think it's the best way to be anxiously engaged in a good cause, to act--and not be acted upon, to use our God-given agency to fulfill our desires and aspirations.  So, with that said, here are some of the things I'm looking forward to doing this year:

  • Get sealed in the temple
  • Run a Ragnar Relay (or two)
  • Complete a sprint triathlon (and maybe an olympic one)
  • Take the LSAT
  • Read the New Testament
  • Create and stick to a budget
  • Complete a year's food supply
  • Perform a monthly service project as a family
On December 31, if I can remember, I'll review and see how I did.

What are you hoping to do this year?  How do you set your goals?  Here's to a great 2011!

  2. Yeah, I skim your blog every few months. Just had to give my two cents on your goals. First the triathlon. Do the Burley (Idaho) Spudman. Last Saturday in July, and the swim is in the river, so even if you float on your back (like I do every year), you still finish the mile in about 27 minutes. Then you can do the full bike and run, and it feels great. Second, if you're taking the LSAT for fun, great. If you actually want to go to law school, great, as long as it's just for fun. If you want to be a lawyer, don't. It's miserable.
Good to know you're alive and well, Brent. Maybe I'll comment again in a year or two.
